Hi Maggie, you should do more thumbnails to study the composition and color study and  post them for discussion and comments before starting the final. This stage is crucial.
 As you see the gray scale of your work here, it's too light and too many small shapes spreading randomly . We need larger masses of tone, better contrast and recompose different masses for the better composition.
 One thing to remember:  when you're using the reference, you need always re composing them  after your need, many things in the reference sources  often are wrong in term of tones, shapes, sizes , composition....
